I created this book project from layout design to illustrations. Children's book about nature by the famous russian writer
Vitaly Bianky "The forest newspaper".
And since this is a newspaper, I decided to arrange the text in two columns and choose a monochrome color scheme with a bright green accent.
The illustrated flyleaf is a calendar of forest life for the year.
I came up with the idea that a little schoolboy or a schoolgirl subscribes to this newspaper, loves to study nature and keeps a herbarium — this is how leaves, flowers, berries and handwritten font appeared.
I also had fun experimenting with hand-printed stencil illustrations and typography.
